Why is the bottom of my BMW engine covered in oil?
On most BMW engines the oil filter housing gasket or the valve cover gasket has failed. Oil runs down from the top and coats everything below. So we clean it up and trace the leak back to be sure.
Is a small oil leak a big deal?
It can be. Oil on the belts and hoses makes them fail early. Oil on the exhaust can smoke and even catch fire. A small leak is a small job now, but if you wait, it grows.
Why does my Volvo leak oil from several places?
Volvo five cylinder engines have a PCV system that clogs with age. PCV lets pressure out of the engine, and when it clogs, that pressure pushes oil past every seal. We fix the PCV first, then the seals.
What is the pink crust on my Audi engine?
That is dried coolant. Audi and VW coolant is pink, and it leaves a crust where it seeps out. The common spots are the water pump, the coolant flange and hose ends. We pressure test to pin it down.
Can you fix a rear main seal leak?
Yes. The rear main seal sits behind the flywheel, between the engine and transmission. To replace it, the transmission has to come out, so it is a big job. But we do it.
