Models we see most
Common Jaguar problems we fix
Timing chain tensioners on the older V8
The 4.0 V8 in the older XJ8, XK8 and S-Type had plastic timing chain tensioners. They break apart with age. The chain then rattles and can slip. We replace them with the metal type.
Cooling system leaks
Jaguar cooling systems use a lot of plastic. The thermostat housing, the coolant tank and the crossover pipe crack. The aluminum engine does not like heat. We fix leaks early.
Oil leaks
Valve cover gaskets and the oil pan seal are the usual leaks on a Jaguar. The supercharged models add oil cooler lines. We find the leak and reseal it.
Electrical faults
Older Jaguars are known for electrical gremlins. Windows, locks and dash warnings act up. A weak battery or a bad ground is often to blame. We find the true cause.
Air suspension on the XJ
The 2004 to 2009 XJ rode on air springs. The springs leak and the car sags. We replace the springs and check the compressor.
Water pump on the 3.0 and 5.0
The newer 3.0 V6 and 5.0 V8 wear out the water pump. Coolant seeps out of the pump body. We replace the pump and the thermostat together.

Beckler, D., customerJaguar repair FAQ
Do you work on Jaguar in Athens?
Yes. Athens Import Auto Repair services Jaguar cars and SUVs in Athens, GA. We work on the XF, XJ, XE, F-Pace, S-Type and XK. Older models are welcome too.
Why does my older Jaguar rattle when I start it?
The timing chain tensioners are likely failing. On the 4.0 V8 they were plastic and they crumble with age. We replace them with metal ones before the chain slips.
Why does my Jaguar overheat?
A cracked plastic cooling part is the usual reason. The thermostat housing or coolant tank often fails. Pull over and shut it off. We can find the leak and fix it.
Can you fix electrical problems on a Jaguar?
Yes. We test the battery and grounds first, since they cause most faults. Then we scan each module with the right tool. We keep going until we find the real cause.
Do you service the Jaguar F-Pace?
Yes. We handle oil service, brakes, cooling and diagnostics on the F-Pace and E-Pace. We use the right scan tool for the newer Jaguar models.
Is an older Jaguar worth keeping?
Often, yes. A well cared for XJ or XK can be a joy for many years. We will tell you what it needs and what it does not. You make the choice.
